ICST 50th Anniversary Celebration

Date: Sun, Sep 10th, 2017

To: All our Friends in the Irish Community

This year the Irish Cultural Society of Toronto is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with an afternoon of fun and entertainment.

We want to commemorate this milestone with all of the Irish organizations in and around the city that have been responsible for keeping Irish culture thriving through the selfless commitment of their members. Consider the richness of the Irish culture be it dance, the arts, music, sports, drama, etc. Let's celebrate this richness in culture together.

The celebration will be held from 1pm to 5pm September 10th at the Local 183 LIUNA hall, located off Wilson Avenue and west of Keele (close to the 401).  The hall is named after Local 183's founding member, Gerry Gallagher, who came from Donegal.

We are planning a full afternoon of Irish entertainment including dance, drama and ceili music. Pat Foran, an award winning journalist from CTV, has kindly agreed to emcee the event.

The cost of a ticket to the event is just $10 which includes sandwiches, tea and coffee. We are encouraging organizations to book tables of 10 – the price is only $100. A cash bar will be available at reasonable prices.

Also, the name of everyone who attends the celebration will be entered into a draw for two return flight tickets to Dublin Ireland courtesy of Aer Lingus.

Tickets can be purchased through our website or by calling Pat Canavan at 416-206-8670.

ICST Committee: Pat Canavan, Kevin Kelly, Mary Kelly, Geraldine Browne, Shannon Rushe, Katheryn Blundell, Petra O'Toole

Footnote:   The ICST was established in 1967 as the Irish Immigrant Society of Toronto to assist immigrants from Ireland. It became the Irish Canadian Aid and Cultural Society in 1992 to include the promotion of Irish culture. In 2005 the organization was split into two organizations, one focusing on culture, namely the ICST, and the other focusing on benevolence, namely the IBST. Today, the major initiatives of the ICST are the hosting of the Toronto Rose of Tralee and the running of the Pot of Gold Lottery.
